Who Writes The Destiny Of A Nation?

Looking at struggles and conflicts around the world, I wondered: Who writes the destiny of a nation - history books say it's our leaders, I think not.

I think it's the small group of its people who DEEPLY believe in the IDEA of that nation and do what's necessary, almost always away from the spotlight, without seeking credit or fame.

Every nation exists because it represents a fundamental idea, the source of its nationalism: It's often a simple idea like being home for an ethnic or religious group but sometimes it's more complex - it represents A SET OF IDEALS - that's when the true magic of human potential is unleashed.

Ideals are alive and open to complicated interpretation. The struggle to give them meaning and to reinvent them from time to time brings out the BEST and WORST in us but the output of the struggle is what leads to real progress towards achieving the true spirit of those ideals.

So, if you find yourself wondering why people fight for ideals - they're writing the destiny of their nation.
