There's also growing scientific evidence that the past isn't a reliable indicator of the future** and as much as we like to claim that history repeats itself, the fact is that patterns of repetition are visible plainly only in hindsight and rarely in the thick of things.
The future is unknown, and that's what scares us. What then do we do to secure our future?
My answer is simple: Spend time to understand people, those who you live with, those you work with, and those within your circle of regular connect. From there, within your capacity, invest in those who you find deserving, and also in organizations and institutions that create or nurture principled human beings. Example: There's a school of investment (thought) that studies senior leadership of companies and invests only in those who have conscientious leaders.
You can create your own school of thought.
In short, investing in people is our best bet to building our greatest future.
**past pattern based prediction works only for short time intervals and for high frequency habitual behaviors in identical situations.
