You can become more creative with this 2 hours/week good habit:
Step 1: Gather reading material throughout the week, anything interesting you come across - skim and bookmark them as you go through your weekdays. (15 minutes)
Step 2: Pick a time on the weekend to read as many of your bookmarked pages as you can (articles, op-eds, in-depth analysis, book chapters, etc.).
Step 3: While reading actively look for connections between all the different things you're reading - make notes using loose sheets of paper or index cards. (Step 2+3: 45 minutes)
Step 4: Store your notes by grouping them into themes. Create new themes or groups, if needed. (10-15 minutes)
Step 5: Refer to old notes, look for any patterns you see. Rearrange your notes. (15 minutes)
Step 6: IMPORTANT: Now, close your notes and store them away. Disengage Completely - take a nap, play a game, listen to music - don't work. Allow your mind to empty. This will give space for new ideas to form. (30 minutes)
Make this your habit and you'll find new ideas and connections come more easily as time goes by.
